Who are we?
KAOS (Kids Action Overseas) is an international children’s community action group. Our projects are one of many internationally concerned projects of Medsin Leeds (Medsin is a university society). We are volunteer led and run by a democratically elected executive composed of an overall co-ordinator, treasurer, secretary, events co-ordinator and our project co-ordinators. Each project co-ordinator, of which there are five (Peru, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and South Africa), has their own committee to specifically support their volunteers and raise funding for their project. KAOS raises money (in association with Leeds RAG) in various ways namely charity hitch hikes, club nights and charity collection pub crawls. Our volunteers are sent to work in their project of choice for one month in July or August. Whilst abroad they are supported by their team leader who they have elected.
Our objectives:
- Our volunteers have an international community specific impact on awareness, poverty and injustice.
- The money our groups of volunteers raise is all officially spent on their group’s project abroad.
- Our projects are trailed before they are launched, our projects are safe.
